Washbasin drain and plug

A sink stopper is a small, simple accessory, but essential for controlling the water flow in your bathroom or kitchen sink. It allows you to hold water in the basin for filling, rinsing, or simply to avoid bad odors.

At Expert by Net, we offer a wide selection of sink stoppers and associated drains, suitable for various basin diameters, styles, and drainage systems. On Expertbynet.fr, you'll find standard, grid, clip-on, or screw-on models that are easy to install.

• Stop the water quickly for soaking or effective washing
• Prevent clogs with debris guards
• Install easily without complex tools

To check before ordering: the diameter and type of drainage for your sink. An ill-fitting stopper may leak or not fit properly. If in doubt, consult the information for the basin or seek advice from the Expert by Net team.

How to choose a sink stopper?

Choosing the right sink stopper ensures it fits the size of the drainage hole, installs easily, and meets your usage needs. Here are the main criteria to consider.

1) The diameter of the drainage hole

This is the essential criterion: stoppers come in several standard diameters (for example, 32 mm, 40 mm, 45 mm…). Measure the diameter of your existing drain to avoid a mistake.

2) The type of mechanism

There are several systems: simple pressure stopper, grid stopper, pop-up stopper (mechanical pressure), or chain-linked stopper. The choice depends on your comfort of use.

3) The finish and style

Chrome, matte black, stainless steel, or white: the finish should harmonize with your sink and faucet. On Expertbynet.fr, you will find several styles suited to all decors.

4) Compatibility with the drain

Depending on whether your sink has a standard drain or a click-clack system, the stopper must be compatible. A click-clack model does not screw in but operates by pressing.

5) Ease of installation

Most stoppers attach without special tools. Some clip-on models are particularly simple, while others need a slight screwing.

Common mistakes to avoid

• Ignoring the actual diameter: a stopper that is too small lets water pass, too large won’t fit.
• Confusing types of mechanism: click-clack ? simple stopper.
• Forgetting to check the drainage: some drains have specific features (specific siphon).
• Relying only on appearance: two stoppers may look alike but may not be compatible.
• Neglecting the finish: dull chrome or steel incompatible with the existing faucet.

Compatibility questions

A sink stopper must match the diameter of the drain, the type of mechanism (click-clack, pressure, grid), and, in some cases, the shape of the siphon. Universal models exist, but it is always better to compare the actual dimensions before ordering on Expertbynet.fr.

Maintenance & lifespan

A well-chosen sink stopper does not require special maintenance. Simply rinse it if deposits form (soap, limescale). If the mechanism becomes hard to use or if the seals wear out, replacement is often the simplest solution.

When to call a pro?

In most cases, a sink stopper can be replaced without difficulty. However, if the drain itself is defective, hard to access, or if the drainage presents a larger problem (odors, backflow), a plumber may need to intervene to diagnose and correct the installation.

On Expertbynet.fr, we recommend systematically checking compatibility before ordering to limit returns.
