Desludging the heating system

What is the purpose of desludging?

Desludging the boiler is a good way to protect your heating system and avoid excessive energy consumption from your radiators. By avoiding overconsumption, you also indirectly take care of the spare parts in your boiler and gas or oil burner.
Sludge can contain bacteria that cluster into algae and proliferate in your closed heating circuit. This is particularly true for underfloor heating: if you notice that certain areas are no longer warm, it's very likely that the sludge (or algae) is absorbing the heat intended to warm you up.

Tools

To desludge your system, you will need:

• 1 set of pliers
• 1 pair of gloves
• Protective glasses
• 1 protective mask
• 1 product for desludging
• 1 anti-corrosion product
• 1 desludging pump

If the water in your heating system has not been treated from the start, it will naturally create sludge since it's a closed circuit.
This black water, laden with contaminants, degrades the parts of the boiler and decreases the efficiency of your radiators.
It is then necessary to remove this sludge and clean the pipes using a desludging agent.

Reminder that this type of product requires caution for your safety and that of those around you. It is advisable to let a professional handle the system.

First of all, it is necessary to empty the system.
We need to connect the desludging hoses in series, right?

Exactly, then you must flush and evacuate the contaminated water.

POLO:
Now that this is done, I pour it into the pump, and now, I start the desludging.

You need to circulate the desludging agent radiator by radiator, or circuit by circuit, depending on the system configuration.
