DIFF domestic hot water heat exchanger for boilers

With the DIFF plate heat exchanger, it is possible to replace a DHW heat exchanger in a boiler. The DIFF plate heat exchanger can be used in over fifty different Vaillant boilers.

This is particularly true of a wide range of Vaillant models, such as the VMW 346, VMW 306 and VMW 280.

It can also be used to repair Vaillant VUW 242 and even VUW 306 boilers.

How the DIFF plate heat exchanger works

A combi boiler features a domestic hot water circuit and a heating circuit.

The heating circuit draws its heat from the fuel burnt in the boiler, which is then distributed throughout the heating system via the appliance heating unit.

The hot water circuit draws its heat from the heating circuit itself. The water in the heating circuit flows into one side of the heat exchanger and out of the other. Domestic hot water flows through it in the opposite direction.

The two circuits do not mix: exchanger plates transfer the heat from one circuit to the other. This is why the hot water exchanger is called a plate heat exchanger.

Once the water has been heated, it can flow to the household taps.
